Meredith to publish new mag for Hispanic moms

Meredith, which is scuttling Ladies’ Home Journal as a monthly after the current issue, said Tuesday that it plans to publish a new magazine aimed at second-generation Hispanic moms.

The new English-language Parents Latina will debut in the spring of 2015 and appear as a quarterly. Meredith already owns Parents and publishes the Spanish-language Ser Padres eight times a year.

“We believe Parents Latina will have tremendous appeal to the growing market of second-generation Hispanic moms, who crave cultural relevance in their media but prefer to consume in English,” said Carey Witmer, president of Meredith’s Parents Network.

Census data show that one out of four children born in the US is Hispanic, a figure that will grow to one out of three by 2030, according to the company.

No editors have yet been tapped for the new magazine, which will have a guaranteed rate base circulation of 700,000.
