Wanted man kills pal in BMW joyride: cops

A boozed-up driver, with a warrant out for his arrest on a previous drunk driving arrest, went for a drunken joyride—this time killing a pal after he plowed into a garbage truck in Brooklyn, cops said.

The 26-year-old driver identified as Garfield Gwood, was headed southbound in a BMW on Utica Avenue near Avenue D in Flatbush at 1:40 a.m., cops said. That’s when he plowed into a private garbage truck, cops said.

At the time of the accident, the truck had just made a left onto Utica Avenue, cops said.

Marquis Willis, the 22-year-old passenger from the BMW was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he later died, cops said.

The second passenger is listed in serious condition at the same hospital, cops said.

The driver of the garbage truck was not injured, cops said.

Gwood suffered several fractures and was being treated at Brookdale Hospital in police custody, cops said.

He has been charged with DWI, cops said.

The details of his prior DWI charge and warrant weren’t immediately available.
