De Blasio, Ray Kelly ‘clear the air’

Bill de Blasio says he’s “cleared the air” with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly after the top cop blasted him last week in a Playboy magazine interview.

“I had a good conversation with him yesterday,” de Blasio told reporters Saturday. “We cleared the air and we’re moving forward.”

Kelly lambasted de Blasio and the other Democratic mayoral candidates for pandering to liberals on the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk policy in this year’s bruising primary.

“It just goes to show you what some politicians will do. They’ll say or do anything to get elected,” he was quoted as saying. “They all claimed to be friends of mine up until their mayoral campaigns.”

Neither de Blasio nor the NYPD would say if apologies were offered during the Friday conversation.

“They spoke,” said department spokesman John McCarthy.

De Blasio would say only that “I have worked with him for over 20 years, respect him, obviously disagree with him on some core issues. I’m certain we’re going to have an effective transition.”
