Model becomes ‘global explorer’ for luxury hotel company

Helena Christensen, the gorgeous Danish-Peruvian model, has signed on as “global explorer” for The Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts, an upscale brand of Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Christensen, 45, who started modeling at age 9 and has since rocketed to success posing for Victoria’s Secret among others, has traversed the entire globe, both as a model and as a photographer, and traveled through Peru for the brand.

She traveled from Paracas to Cusco and the Sacred Valley and will show her photography in an exhibit, Visual Journey Peru, at Bleecker Street Arts Club in Greenwich Village through Feb. 17.

Sales from the exhibition go to the Oxfam charity, for which she is global ambassador.

The Luxury Collection has around 85 hotels and will open a new one in the United Arab Emirates this month; unveil a conversion of the Hotel Bristol in Odessa, Ukraine, in March; and introduce the new Castle Hotel, in Dalian, China, in June. In Peru, the brand has three hotels in cities Christensen photographed.

Paul James, a spokesman for the Luxury Collection, St. Regis and W Hotels worldwide, said Christensen was a world traveler and inspired those around her.
