Four Oscars went to this great, insightful and hilarious Woody Allen movie including Best Picture, Writing and Directing for Allen, and Best Actress for Diane Keaton. It’s 1970s New York, and a nerdy, neurotic Jewish writer with issues meets the ultimate WASPy girl, who is a ditz with singing aspirations. This is the story of their impossible relationship and how she eventually leaves to try to make it in Los Angeles. “Annie Hall” is one of the best movies in a decade of great movies.

Beverly Hills Cop, 1984

Tues. 11 am. (BET)

Eddie Murphy is hilarious as a tough Detroit cop who goes to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of his best friend. Murphy plays Det. Alex Foley, who has no patience for the laid-back, by-the-book pace of the LA police, and he ends up turning the city on its ear. Bronson Pinchot is so good as Serge, the Russian art galley guy, he almost steals the show from Murphy.

Young Frankenstein, 1974

Wed. 1 am. (AMC)

Classic Mel Brooks insanity that is so funny you won’t be able to catch your breath. Mad doctor/scientist Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) inherits the family castle and discovers Gramps’ records for reanimation. Peter Boyle is brilliant as the monster who gets dressed up in a tux to perform “Puttin’ On the Ritz.” With Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman and Madeline Kahn.

Road to Perdition, 2002

Sat. 11:30 pm. (TNT)

Somewhat complicated but interesting Sam Mendes film about Michael Sullivan, a professional hitman (Tom Hanks) whose son (Tyler Hoechlin) witnesses his father in action, forcing them to go on the run. Paul Newman stars as Sullivan’s crime boss and mentor, and Jude Law is the hitman hired to kill the hitman.
