Horowitz on listening tour prior to taking over ‘Today’

ESPN’s Jamie Horowitz has been having a lot of lunches these days.

Horowitz, who is set to become the new SVP and GM at the “Today” show, was spotted at Rock Center hangout Morell Wine Bar having an al fresco lunch with President Bush’s daughter, “Today” correspondent Jenna Bush Hager, who’s no doubt looking to pick up extra assignments now that she knows Chelsea Clinton’s getting paid $600,000 a year by NBC.

Horowitz won’t officially be able to take the control-room chair until December, we hear, so figure he must be doing the pre-requisite listening tour.

Hollywood Reporter had Horowitz also dining with Matt Lauer, who recently extended his NBC contract.

While Horowitz is out meeting the team, we hear former ABC News boss Ben Sherwood is still angry that Disney sibling ESPN let Horowitz make the move at all.

Sherwood, who is stepping into Anne Sweeney’s shoes soon to run the entire Disney TV slate, is headed to Sun Valley’s Allen & Co. retreat this year in her place.
