Schneider paying for own show

Former “Saturday Night Live” trouper Rob Schneider is hoping to return to series TV — in a very unorthodox way.

Schneider, who headlined the short-lived sitcom “Rob” on CBS in 2012, is self-funding his next show, an eight-episode sitcom called “Real Rob,” in which he’ll star with his wife, Patricia Azarcoya Schneider.

“Real Rob” will be a documentary-style half-hour and “edgier” than “Rob,” in which Schneider played a version of himself. In addition to Schneider and his wife, “Real Rob” will include Schneider’s “incompetent assistant” and “Rob’s personal stalker,” according to deadline.com.

Schneider doesn’t have a deal yet, but will shop the show to cable networks and to Netflix and could stream it online, according to the report.
