Brinkley’s ex lashes out over People story

Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook’s simmering feud has boiled over again — with Brinkley’s cheating ex-husband accusing the supermodel of bad-mouthing him in People magazine’s “Christie at 60!” cover story.

In a damning e-mail to the ageless bombshell, who will turn 60 on Sunday, Cook blasts Brinkley for using the story to spread lies and slander him in the eyes of their two children, Sailor and Jack.

“The sad reality is, almost eight years later, Christie is still mired in our divorce and hatred of me, which has been irreparably damaging to our children,” Cook wrote in the angry missive obtained by Radar Online.

Married in 1996, the Hamptons couple went through an ugly, public split in 2008 after Cook admitted to an affair with an 18-year-old assistant, Diana Bianchi.

Brinkley told People that her 50s “weren’t easy” because she “went through a miserable divorce while trying to be a pillar for my kids.”

People reported that “Brinkley won a large [divorce] settlement, especially after the revelation of Cook’s heavy hand on the . . . children.”

“There is nothing about . . . making false and dishonest statements about the father of your children and making every effort to alienate the children from their father that qualifies you as being a ‘pillar’ for our children!” Cook fumed.

“Christie, over the last 8 years I have taken a lot of hits by way of your gross exaggerations, revisionist history, and self-serving dishonesty, but nothing could be more egregious than this incontrovertible lie. I let you get away with a lot for the sake our children. When you initially filed for divorce and you attempted to prejudice opinion of me by falsely accusing me of EVER being inappropriate with Sailor was the death knell for me as far as you were concerned. That was the day I took my wedding ring off,” he wrote.

Cook was Brinkley’s fourth husband — and her fourth divorce. She was previously married to Billy Joel.
