“Baby, we did it again!” a gleeful Calvin Spencer shouted to his wife, Zatera — after their third big win in the Virginia state lottery in a single month.
The Portsmouth couple scored their first win on March 12, when they pocketed $1 million in a Powerball drawing.
Then, on March 26, Spencer won $50,000 with 10 winning tickets in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game.
Luckily for them, they did not quit while they were ahead.
Calvin bought a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket, $100 Million Cash Extravaganza — and won the $1 million prize, lottery officials said.
The $1 million prize in $100 Million Cash Extravaganza is an annuity, which means the Spencers had the choice of taking the full $1 million prize over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $681,000 before taxes. They chose the cash option — and planned to invest some of his prize money in more lottery tickets.
“We’re not finished yet!” he told lottery officials after claiming the latest score.
