‘Shogun’ is getting a remake

The miniseries is back.

Following on the heels of History’s “Hatfield & McCoys,” which set cable ratings records last spring, Fox has announced plans for a miniseries reboot of “Shogun” — which snared big numbers for NBC back in 1980 with star Richard Chamberlain.

The new version — being dubbed an “event series” by Fox — will, like its TV predecessor, be based on the James Clavell novel. No casting details yet.

Fox says it will also create an OJ Simpson “event series” based on Jeffrey Toobin’s “The Run of His Life: The People vs. OJ Simpson,” about the infamous 1994 murders.

The OJ series “will take viewers behind the scenes of ‘The Trial of the Century,’ ” Fox said in a statement.
