Holmes a game-time decision for Jets; Cromartie sounds OK

Santonio Holmes said he’s fine, but Jets coach Rex Ryan didn’t sound as peppy.

“I feel like I have been feeling the past three weeks: pretty good,” said Holmes, who did not practice Friday because of a sore hamstring.

Ryan called Holmes a game-time decision. The wide receiver has played the past two games, totaling three catches.

“It’s not going to be [determined] tomorrow probably so we’ll see how he is,” Ryan said. “He did not practice today, so I’m concerned.”

And the concern deepens with wide receiver Jeremy Kerley, also considered a gametime decision because of an elbow woe. Kerley was limited in practice.

Antonio Cromartie, though, offered a glimmer of optimism in a gloomy medical report. The Jets cornerback, nursing a nagging hip injury, said he is very optimistic about playing Sunday at Miami.

“I’m feeling better,” Cromartie said. “I mean, we’ll see how it feels on game day and go from there.”

Cromartie said he has been battling hip soreness since he reinjured it during the second week of preseason.

“I felt good when I was running around on the sidelines, so we’ll see how it feels when it’s running around cutting on it and everything else,” Cromartie said.

Elsewhere on the Jets medical front, running back Chris Ivory (ankle) and center Nick Mangold (wrist) both practiced and are expected to play against Miami. Linebacker Garrett McIntyre (knee) was limited in practice and safety Antonio Allen did not practice due to illness, but is expected to be available Sunday.

“We got a lot of guys, everyone of them is questionable and that’s true,” Ryan said, “unlike most of the time where we’re like, ‘He’s playing, he’s playing …’”
