Protesters say Cuomo’s proposed tax cuts as just for ‘the rich’

A coalition of groups and elected officials — including many close to Mayor de Blasio — are mounting a full-throttle attack on Gov. Cuomo for proposing a $2 billion tax cut that they claim will benefit the rich.

Holding signs that read “Middle Class over Millionaires,” the group known as #NYInequality took to the steps of City Hall Wednesday to blast Cuomo’s new budget as laden with “reckless tax cuts for the richest 1 percent of New Yorkers.”

While a portion of Cuomo’s tax relief would cut the estate tax and benefit the wealthiest New Yorkers, another portion would freeze property taxes to help the middle class.

The group includes the Working Families Party and 1199 SEIU, both which back de Blasio’s plan to hike taxes on the rich.
