HERNDON, Va. — An army of techies scrambled on Thanksgiving to fix America’s largest turkey — the much-maligned ObamaCare Web site.
The IT workers from CGI, the main contractor overhauling HealthCare.gov, were treated to a chicken and pasta lunch at their corporate headquarters as they worked overtime to correct the defective site by the White House’s Saturday deadline.
“They’re working pretty hard. I can’t tell you if they’ll make it,” an IT contractor for CGI Federal told The Post as he finished his day.
The IT nerve center for ObamaCare was buzzing with activity during the Thanksgiving holiday.
About 45 cars were parked outside CGI Federal.
President Obama has said the redesigned Web site should function for a “vast majority” of Americans by Dec. 1.
The improved site is supposed to handle 50,000 users simultaneously, double the current capacity.
A new queuing system will notify users when there’s heavy volume, alerting them to wait times and allowing them to be notified by e-mail when they can return to the site, officials said.
