Guard stopped black man from eating in Whole Foods: suit

A black teacher filed a civil rights lawsuit against Whole Foods after a security guard at the trendy grocer stopped him from eating the prepared food he had bought in their dining area, federal court papers state.

“They didn’t allow me to take my food upstairs and they stopped me and asked for a receipt,” said Moses Torres, 54. “I was very disappointed and embarrassed.”

The Brooklyn federal court lawsuit says the TriBeCa Whole Foods barred Moses Torres, 54, from the eating area on March 30, 2013, solely because of his race.

“Whole Foods needs to treat all their customers with the same respect,” said lawyer Michael David.
