Bronx baby dumped

A Bronx teen was arrested yesterday for throwing her stillborn baby down a trash chute, cops said.

Ariel Devonish-Francis, 19, of West Farms Road, was charged with unlawful disposal of a cadaver when she went to Albert Einstein Hospital with her mother after delivering the boy in a bathtub, police said.

The Bronx Community College student copped to dumping the dead infant after staffers asked about her pregnancy, authorities said. She had been 32 weeks pregnant.

Cops scouring through her housing project’s trash area found the baby’s remains in a bag at about 6 p.m. Saturday.

Devonish-Francis’ brother, Clifford Jones, said she gave birth at about 4:30 p.m. that day. An autopsy determined the infant had been stillborn.

Jones said his sister disappeared into the bathroom and later told her mother she felt sick and needed to go to the hospital.

“She was a kid, scared and panicking,” Jones said. “She didn’t know what to do. She put the baby in a bag and threw it down the chute.”

Neighbors set up a memorial outside the family’s building.
