DA chief in gay-slur stir

The fiery chief of the Brooklyn District Attorney Office’s Gang Bureau has been suspended without pay for threatening her subordinates with gay slurs, sources told The Post.

In one reported instance, Deanna Rodriguez, who has run the unit since 1996, allegedly sent an e-mail to a female paralegal that contained physical threats and homophobic put-downs, according to a law-enforcement source.

“That was part of a number of inappropriate actions,” another law-enforcement source said.

Rodriguez, 52, used words like “f—ot” and “d-ke” to insult interns, paralegals and assistant district attorneys, the source confirmed.

While assistant district attorneys in the Gang Bureau spoke highly of Rodriguez’s leadership, several Brooklyn prosecutors said she has a reputation for angry tirades.

“She’s a wild woman. She’s nuts,” said another law-enforcement source. “A lot of people have had incidents with her.”

DA spokesman Jerry Schmetterer confirmed Rodriguez was suspended without pay in March for three months but declined to comment on her alleged conduct.

Rodriguez earns about $160,000 a year.

Asked whether she would return to her position, Schmetterer said, “We will make that decision at the appropriate time.”

DA’s office employees have filed several complaints against Rodriguez — including at least one with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, law-enforcement sources said.

“I have no comment. I’m sorry,” Rodriguez said over the phone before hanging up.
