Drunk sounds alarm

He’s a real button-pusher!

A booze-chugging bum keeps pressing an emergency “call-box” button in Tribeca — forcing firefighters to rush to the scene because he simply wants a comfy spot to sleep off his hangover, FDNY sources said.

Orlando Kerton, 60, has activated a red “fire” button at Walker and Lafayette streets in Manhattan 30 times in the past two months, requesting to be chauffeured to a hospital bed, FDNY sources said.

Furious firefighters — who are required to respond to his calls — say his phony cries for help are a waste of city resources and tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

“This guy is gaming the system,” said one disgusted firefighter. The source added that it could be a dangerous waste of FDNY staff if a real emergency struck.

Kerton wanders around Tribeca guzzling booze, witnesses said. After he reaches his limit, he uses the box to call for help, pressing a red button marked “Fire,” sources said.

He avoids the blue button next to it marked “Police,” sources said. Firefighters are then forced to respond, rushing through traffic with sirens blaring.

Once they’re at the scene, Kerton asks for an ambulance, which costs roughly $1,000 per trip, sources said.

The ambulance transports Kerton to a hospital, where he sleeps for a while and then voluntarily checks out, sources said.

Approached by a Post reporter, Kerton sipped from a vodka bottle in a paper bag and said, “I call at nights because I feel sick. I black out.”
