MLB: Dodgers, D’backs suspended for brawl

Arizona pitcher Ian Kennedy was suspended for 10 games and Diamondbacks infielder Eric Hinske for five for their roles in a brawl with the Dodgers on Tuesday, while managers Don Mattingly and Kirk Gibson were given one-game bans. In all, eight members of the Diamondbacks and Dodgers organizations were suspended.

The Brewers put outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right thumb.

HOOPS: Holdsclaw pleads guilty to assault charges

In Atlanta, ex-WNBA player and former Christ the King star Chamique Holdsclaw pleaded guilty to charges stemming from an argument and shooting in November.

Holdsclaw pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and other charges. She was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.

Holdsclaw was arrested after the confrontation with Tulsa Shock player Jennifer Lacy, who told police she was Holdsclaw’s ex-girlfriend.

ETC.: Back surgery on tap for Gronkowski

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is scheduled to undergo back surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles, sources told ESPN.com.
