‘50 Cent’ aligns with Starz net

The struggling Starz network has announced a new dramatic series that aligns the talents of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and former “Good Wife” producer Courtney Kemp Agboh.

Like “Magic City” and “Boss,” the new series, with the generic title “Power,” is about a shady figure — James St. Patrick, nicknamed “Ghost,” who’s a wealthy New York nightclub owner desiring to turn his club into a Fortune 500 business.

He’s got the wealthy clientele to help him make the right connections — and he also has a miserable secret life as a — you guessed it, “Breaking Bad” fans — drug kingpin. As Patrick attempts to sever ties with his criminal cronies, his marriage, family and business are threatened.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht, who headed up HBO in his salad days, says he’s thrilled to be working with the former rapper, who has his own shady, criminal past (two arrests on felony drug charges in 1994). “Curtis has a unique and specific vision for the series and Courtney has created characters not often explored in contemporary drama,” says Albrecht.
