Fired organ donor sues

A Long Island woman who was fired after donating a kidney to help save her boss’ life is suing the supervisor and her former company, according to a Brooklyn federal court filing.

Deborah Stevens of Hicksville offered her kidney in 2011 because her boss at Atlantic Automotive Group, Jacqueline Brucia, was in grave need of a transplant, court papers state.

But when Stevens’ own health suffered after the surgery, Brucia berated her for not working, the suit says. Steven claims she was fired last year after complaining about that.
