HOOPS: Sources: LeBron may run for union prez

LeBron James is seriously considering running for president of the National Basketball players’ association, multiple sources told ESPN.

Rockets forward Terrence Jones was arrested in Portland, Ore., after he was seen stomping on a homeless man’s leg, police said. The 6-foot-9 Jones walked by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping and yelled, “Wake Up!” before lifting his foot and stomping on one man’s leg, police said.

Point guard John Wall agreed a contract extension with the Wizards worth about $80 million over five years.

MLB: Last-place Astros shut out Orioles

In Baltimore, rookie Brett Oberholtzer allowed three hits over seven innings to earn his first major league win, Jason Castro hit a grand slam as the Astros blasted the Orioles, 11-0.

In St. Petersburg, Fla., Wade Miley pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning, leading the Diamondbacks to a 7-0 win over the Rays. … In Detroit, Alex Avila and Torii Hunter hit homers in a five-run second inning in the Tigers’ 11-1 rout of the Nationals.

ETC.: Tiger rips greens for PGA Championship

While talking to reporters before today’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Tiger Woods took a shot at the greens at Oak Hill Country Club, the site of next week’s PGA Championship, calling them “spotty.”

Hyper surged with less than a quarter-mile to run and won the $100,000 John’s Call Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
