Brooklyn cops and prosecutors busted a crew of eight gun runners – including five teens – for peddling 30 working handguns to undercover cops over the past 10 months, authorities said Thursday.
Aneudy Cruz, 19, recruited younger teens to deliver the guns to customers, according to a Brooklyn District Attorney press release. He faces up to 25 years behind bars if convicted.
The eight gun runners range in age from 16 to 33 and included broad daylight sales near the Lafayette Gardens projects in Clinton Hill.
The undercover cops made buys including a .38-caliber revolver for $600 and a 9mm handgun for $800.
“The honest and hardworking people who live in Lafayette Gardens should not have to share their sidewalks with gun dealers, whom we will now hold accountable despite their young ages,” DA Ken Thompson said in a statement.
The gun runners were arrested Wednesday and face various illegal gun raps.
