Fireworks superstore explodes in flames

A fireworks superstore in Tennessee gave onlookers one last blast for Independence Day as a fire engulfed the building and sent fireworks exploding through the air.

Video shows the Sunday evening blaze as it destroys the firework outlet, filling the sky with massive flames and thick clouds of smoke, ABC 6 reports.

Fireworks could be heard exploding in the distance as they quickly turned into a dangerous onslaught of aerial weapons for those in the surrounding area.

“When you see something like this, you see exploding shells, you know you have to go defensive right off the bat, you have to stay back,” said Robert Stooksbury with the Caryville Fire Department. “We had fireworks going off. We had fires set along the interstate from exploding fireworks.”

As the blaze raged on, traffic was stopped in both directions on Interstate 75, with witnesses reportedly seeing fireworks shoot in different directions and explode.

“Upon our arrival, it became an offensive attack, instead of risking anybody going inside,” Stooksbury added.

Luckily, despite the owner saying there were about five employees and eight customers inside the building when the fire started, no one was hurt.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what might have caused the fire.
