Regehr set to return for Kings

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The Rangers won’t be the only team getting some reinforcements on the blue line for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals.

While John Moore is expected to make his return for the Blueshirts after serving his two-game suspension for his hit on the Canadiens’ Dale Weise during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, the Kings should have Robyn Regehr back in action after he has sat out the last month with a knee injury he suffered in Game 1 of Los Angeles’ second round series against the Ducks.

“He’ll probably play [in Game 2],” Kings coach Darryl Sutter said.

Regehr, 34, played in 79 games for the Kings this season, scoring three goals to go with 11 assists, and had a pair of assists in eight playoff games before being checked into the boards behind his net by Ducks forward Teemu Selanne during the opener of the Kings’ seven-game victory.

With Regehr returning to the lineup, it’s likely that Matt Greene — averaging the least ice time amongst Kings defensemen with just under 14 minutes per game — will be scratched to make room for his return.
