James Goldston to replace ABC News president

James Goldston will replace Ben Sherwood as president of ABC News. The British-born Goldston is a network vet, having joined ABC in 2004. Since then, he’s worked on “Nightline” and “Good Morning America,” as well as serving as senior VP for content and development for ABC’s news division.

Before joining ABC, Goldston headed up Britain’s highly rated “Tonight with Trevor McDonald” as a producer and executive producer.

Sherwood is succeeding Ann Sweeney as co-chairman, Disney Media Networks, and president of the Disney/ABC Television Group.

Speaking of “GMA,” ESPN’s “Around the Horn” host Tony Reali has inked a new deal at ESPN — and is joining corporate sister show “GMA” as a contributor. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Reali’s ESPN show, which is based in Washington, DC, will relocate to Midtown (Times Square) later this year. Reali will appear as a “social media contributor” on “GMA’s” “Social Square” segment.

Last week, “GMA” announced that “Live with Kelly and Michael” co-host Michael Strahan will appear on the morning show several times a week, while continuing to co-host “Live” with Kelly Ripa.

Reali and Strahan fill the gender gaps created when Josh Elliott left for NBC Sports and Sam Champion headed to The Weather Channel to host “AMHQ.”
