Man claims self-defense in sister’s slaying

A man busted in the stabbing death of his sister in their Chinatown apartment last month told cops she had tried to poison him, according to court papers made public Wednesday.

Chuen Lau, 55, allegedly murdered Meilin Liu, 57, whose body was found in the bathtub of the Eldridge Street apartment on May 18.

“My sister tried to poison me,” he told cops, shortly before requesting a warm beer to soothe his stomach. “I ate something and saw blood in my stool.”

He also said he was upset that his sister was speaking poorly of him to family members in China and trying to cut him out of his share of property there.

He told cops his sister was the aggressor and he’d fought back but didn’t realize she’d died until police told him later, state court papers.

Lau pleaded not guilty to one count of murder in the second degree Wednesday at his Manhattan Supreme Court arraignment.

Liu had been stabbed multiple times. Her niece discovered her bloodied pajama-clad body in a waterless tub.

No one had contact with the victim for two days before she was found.
