Bending MetroCards to trick turnstile readers into permitting a free ride could send a scammer to the slammer, the state’s highest court said yesterday.
Creasing a MetroCard’s magnetic strip can be prosecuted as felony forgery, as former pro card bender Jonathan Mattocks found out yesterday.
A judge upheld Mattocks’ two-year sentence for selling bent cards in October 2005 to straphangers at the 125th Street-Lexington Avenue subway station.
“We obviously view this as a welcome and significant decision in favor of the MTA,” said MTA spokesman Paul Fleuranges.
