‘SLAY WIFE’ THEATRICS

A Staten Island woman accused of killing her fire-marshal husband burst into “theatrical” hysterics and chugged shots of whiskey as she spun an allegedly bogus yarn for authorities about discovering the body, an Emergency Medical Service supervisor testified yesterday.

Capt. Carolyn Fiorianti said Janet Mercereau, 39, was “rocking [and] crying” at a neighbor’s house on Dec. 2, 2007, as she spoke about finding Doug Mercereau dead in their bed on her way to fetch clothes from a closet.

“She was very, very theatrical and drinking shots of Johnny Walker,” and she put two fingers to her head in the shape of a gun while describing how her husband’s body looked, Fiorianti said.
