‘TOP Chef” host Padma Lakshmi is looking to stir up laughs on network TV.
Lakshmi will parlay her culinary savvy into a half-hour sitcom as part of a production deal she’s inked with NBC.
In the ensemble sitcom, tentatively titled “Single Serving,” she’ll play a single woman working in the food world.
Charlie Corwin (“The Rachel Zoe Project,” “Miami Ink“) has signed on as executive producer of Lakshmi’s planned sitcom, a joint venture between NBC and Universal Media Studios.
The series is still in its early stages, and there are no writers attached yet.
“Obviously it’s very exciting,” a source told The Post. “It’s a pairing of great people that hopefully will result in something very special.”
The news comes at a good time for Lakshmi who, along with “Top Chef” co-host Tom Colicchio, received an Emmy nomination for Reality Show Host.
The Indian-born supermodel-turned-hostess has tried her hand at acting before, including roles in the film, “Glitter,” which was universally panned by critics; “Boom,” a Bollywood action film that failed to impress; and, most recently, “The Mistress of Spices.”
She’s also hosted the food-travel series “Padma’s Passport” and “Planet Food.”
