BRATTON BACKS ABORN PLAN

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, who developed the computerized crime-fighting CompStat system, is back in the Big Apple today to throw his weight behind a plan for a similar model in the district attorneys’ offices.

Bratton will appear alongside Manhattan DA candidate Richard Aborn, who crafted a plan to monitor treatment programs for nonviolent offenders, at City Hall.

“The DA’s office has a ton of statistical information that you can . . . make better use of,” said Bratton, now LA’s police commissioner.

Aborn said his plan, dubbed PreventStat, will help prosecutors figure out which programs work by tracking the progress of individuals on the computer system.

Aborn, a lawyer and gun-control advocate, is running for DA against former Judge Leslie Crocker Snyder and Cyrus Vance Jr, a former prosecutor.
