Thief steals cases of meat from freezer of TGI Friday’s in Midtown

A thief with chain-restaurant taste stole four cases of sirloin beef from a TGI Friday’s in Midtown, sources said Friday.

The carnivorous crook swiped the red meat from a rooftop freezer on Eighth Avenue at 34th Street in the early hours of May 31, cops said.

The thief slipped into a side door on Eighth Avenue between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. and climbed a staircase to the roof, sources said.

He then used bolt cutters to pry the freezer lock open and took off with the four cases weighing up to 50 pounds each, according to law enforcement and store employees.

Four garbage bins also went missing — and workers believe he used them to haul off the meat.

“Whoever did it is stupid,” one employee chuckled.

The rooftop door was left slung open and bolt cutters were recovered by cops.

The store is slated to relocate to 211 W. 34th St. after construction is completed on the building, said staff. Employees had no idea why the freezer was kept on the roof.

There was no surveillance video at the scene, sources said.
