Knicks sign pair

The Knicks signed a point guard and power forward yesterday, but neither of them was David Lee nor Nate Robinson.

To fill out their training-camp roster, Donnie Walsh added free agent Celtics point guard Gabe Pruitt and forward Warren Carter, who played on the Knicks summer-league team.

Both signed non-guaranteed contracts and are not locks to make the team, particularly Carter, who played in Turkey last season.

Pruitt was arrested for drunk driving last February and was suspended by the Celtics for two games. Last year, the Celtics were so disenchanted with Pruitt, their second-round pick in 2007 out of USC, that they reached out to sign Stephon Marbury, who still is without a team.

During the Celtics’ run to the finals in 2007-08, Pruitt was inactive for the playoffs. He played in 47 games last season and four games in the playoffs.

Walsh still is aiming to sign Lee and Robinson to one-year deals before training camp begins in 16 days.
