FXX to launch 12-day marathon of ‘The Simpsons’

Talk about getting a bang for your buck.

FX, which shelled out $750 million for repeats of “The Simpsons,” will launch the show on sister network FXX in August with a 12-day marathon — the longest in TV history.

The marathon, which will start Aug. 21 and run through Labor Day, will encompass 552 episodes of “The Simpsons,” which first premiered on Fox in 1989 and has turned Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson into animation icons.

FXX will then air four hours of episodes every Sunday this fall, leading into each new episode airing on Fox.
