MADDEN IN DEVILS’ LIMBO

Less than a month from unrestricted free agency, Devils center John Madden told The Post there has been “zero, nada,” discussion with New Jersey on a new contract.

The four-time Selke Trophy nominee and 2001 winner said he is not discouraged by the inaction.

“I don’t think that’s a problem. There are a lot of decisions being made internally before the unrestricted free agents and restricted free agents start getting signed,” Madden said.

Madden’s role diminished last season under coach Brent Sutter, who often used Dainius Zubrus’ line, with Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta, against their foes’ best. In the playoffs, however, Madden again was given checking duty, with significant success.

Madden, 36, said his decision on signing for a 10th season with the Devils will not be affected by Sutter’s still-pending decision on returning for a third season behind the Devils bench.
