MORE DEUTSCHE BANK WOE

Decontamination work at the Deutsche Bank building at Ground Zero was halted yesterday for the second time in a week because of smoke spotted at the construction site, officials said yesterday.

The Fire Department was called to the toxin-tainted building yesterday after smoke was seen wafting from a piece of equipment outside the tower. The equipment, a forklift, was having its batteries charged.

While at the scene, firefighters found a faulty switch on a device meant to keep air from escaping from the building, which is being cleaned of toxins left over since the tower was damaged on 9/11.

Officials expect work to resume on the project this morning. Last week, smoke from an electric motor on a scissor-lift brought work to a stop for a day.

The Lower Manhattan Development Commission expects the tower to be fully decontaminated in July, clearing the way for the building to be disassembled and removed by January.
