Meet the cutest ‘coach’ of March Madness

St. Joseph’s could have an advantage in the NCAA Tournament, as they appear to have two head coaches.

There is Phil Martelli, who has spent 19 years as the Philadelphia school’s head coach. And then there’s his 4-year-old grandson, Philip Stephen Martelli. Philip spends most of the game two rows behind the St. Joseph’s bench, dressed in a suit jacket and tie, imitating his grandfather’s every move, from yelling at officials to crossing his arms.

Philip even has his own grease board and marker to draw up plays. Philip drew the attention of the CBS broadcast on Sunday as the Hawks defeated VCU to win the Atlantic 10 and clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 10 seed St. Joseph’s will play No. 7 UConn on Thursday night in Buffalo.
