Dog that raced Metro-North train reunited with rescuers

The brave pooch who ran in front of a Metro-North train from the Bronx to Manhattan was reunited with her rescuers Wednesday morning.

Tie, a bright collie and shepherd mix believed to be about 3 years old, wore a pink bandana as the cops who rescued her gave her a pat.

She also showed that she can speak, sit, and shake her paw on command.

The feisty pup survived her epic track adventure in one piece on Tuesday after the engineer, who adores dogs, drove his train slowly and hit the brakes twice when she tumbled between the track ties.

Two MTA cops and a Metro-North station agent then helped Tie get safely off the tracks at the 125th Street station as about a hundred passengers cheered on the platform.

“We’re hopeful that the dog owner will come forward and reclaim the dog,” said Officer Errold Borges.

Officer Luis Alvarez said he would love to adopt her if no one claims her, and that it was their third time rescuing a pup. “I was so happy that we were able to recover the dog,” he said. “I would love to take her home.”

Risa Weinstock, executive director of Animal Care and Control, said Tie was in good health — and despite her love of the rails on Tuesday, doesn’t seem to have been living on the tracks.

Her coat is clean, she’s well-fed, and she knows a lot of commands.

“This is such a mystery,” said Weinstock. “I hope the owner comes forward.”

If no one claims her by Friday, Tie will be put up for adoption.

Anyone who believes Tie is their missing pup can reach out to Animal Care and Control. They are looking for pictures or medical records that show the owner is her family.
