Terror watchdog hit the slopes day after thwarted airplane attack

The nation’s top terrorist watchdog started a six-day ski vacation barely a day after the underwear bomber nearly blew a jet out of the sky, officials admitted yesterday.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s tighty-whiteys had barely stopped smoking when Michael Leiter, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, got White House permission to hit the slopes with his 7-year-old son.

Leiter’s shocking departure came as intelligence officials worldwide were scrambling to determine if the al Qaeda-hatched plot was part of a larger conspiracy. Officials haven’t said where he was skiing.
