Jets report card

OFFENSE

Mark Sanchez (16-38, 256 yards, 2 INTs, 43.3 rating) looked tentative early on and then got no help from his receivers, who dropped at least six passes. WR Santonio Holmes caught three passes for 43 yards in the first quarter and never caught another. WR Jerricho Cotchery had a pass ripped away from him for an INT in the second quarter and had a couple of drops. RBs Shonn Greene (6-22) and LaDainian Tomlinson (16-54) were ineffective. F

DEFENSE

Overall, a strong job. It held the Packers to only a field goal after Green Bay was given a short field in the first quarter. LB David Harris had nine tackles, a sack and three pressures. CB Dwight Lowery had a sack. The Jets held the Packers to only 2-of-14 on third downs and only 237 total offensive yards. They kept Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (15-34, 170 yards) from hurting them. A-

SPECIAL TEAMS

K Nick Folk missed a crucial 37-yard FG attempt late in the third quarter with the Jets trailing 3-0. P Steve Weatherford nearly pulled off a huge fake punt play, but gained 17 yards on fourth-and-18. He, however, was unaware of the distance to the chains, and that was costly. Weatherford averaged 43.2 gross and net on five punts. C

COACHING

This wasn’t Rex Ryan’s best game. He possibly blew the contest by wasting both of his coach’s challenges in the first half. And when he desperately needed to make a challenge that likely would have been overturned in the fourth quarter, he was out of them. D
