Mayor Bloomberg’s horse-loving daughter took a frightening spill over the weekend and might have suffered a concussion and fractured spine, officials said today.
Georgina Bloomberg, 27, was aboard a horse named Radio City on Friday night at the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament when her saddle slipped and she fell off, knocking the mayor’s youngest daughter unconscious.
She eventually got up off the Oncenter War Memorial Arena floor on her own power and walked away, declining medical attention, officials said. But she got up in pain Saturday morning and went to a hospital.
“The complete medical report on Georgina Bloomberg, who had a severe fall … when her saddle unexpectedly came loose and slipped during the Gamblers Choice competition at the Syracuse Sporthorse Tournament, will become more clear following an in-depth examination on Monday,” tournament spokesman Kenneth Kraus said.
“Bloomberg was unconscious immediately following the fall, suffered a concussion and was also diagnosed with a fracture to her spine. Despite the injury, she is resting comfortably.”
The avid equestrian Bloomberg is best known for her role in the 2003 HBO documentary “Born Rich,” about her status, born into privilege.
