‘Bachelorette’ star found dead off Southern Calif. highway

Julien Hug — who competed on ABC’s “The Bachelorette” in May 2009 — was found dead near a California highway, Us Weekly reported Thursday.

His body was found Wednesday in a remote area near a highway in Riverside County, nearly 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The parents of the 35-year-old had reported him missing several days ago.

Hug, who is the son of San Diego restaurateurs Bertrand and Denise Hug, competed on the reality dating show in season five for the affection of bachelorette Jillian Harris. Hug was eliminated after the second episode.

“Please say a prayer for the loss of a friend this morning,” Harris wrote on Twitter Thursday in response to the tragic news.

“Life is fragile, don’t forget to love the ones you love,” she added.
