Jets report card

OFFENSE

Mark Sanchez (27-44, 299 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) threw a 25-yard TD pass to WR Jerricho Cotchery and the game-winner to Santonio Holmes (5- 76) WR Brad Smith (5-39 rushing, 1-6 receiving) had a big role. RBs Shonn Greene (20-72) and LaDainian Tomlinson (18-57) had tough sledding running the ball, but were very good in short-yardage situations. The Jets were 11-of-21 on third down. B-

DEFENSE

Not sharp early, with Browns RB Peyton Hillis rushing for 60 yards in the first half. But defense was solid in second half, allowing Hillis only 22 yards on 9 carries. The Browns had only 107 yards in total offense in the second half, though rookie Colt McCoy carved up the Jets on the game-tying drive. Cleveland was 4-of-12 on third down. S James Ihedigbo, and LBs Calvin Pace and Jason Taylor each had a sack. B

SPECIAL TEAMS

Nick Folk missed three FGs — from 48, 24 and 47 yards (in OT), but made kicks of 27 and 25 yards. Poor kick coverage allowed a 32-yard return by Joe Haden to set up Cleveland on its game-tying drive in regulation. Not a great day for P Steve Weatherford (38.7-yard gross average and 37-yard net). C

COACHING

Rex Ryan not calling timeouts at the end of regulation with the offense at the 35-yard line in a tie game, leaving two timeouts in his pocket, was a waste. But the offensive game plan was strong, going back to the run and sticking with it even in tough times. B
