Jeter undergoes Yankees’ physical

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — One day after agreeing to a three-year deal worth a guaranteed $51 million that can be worth $17 million four a fourth year via an option, Derek Jeter underwent a physical today at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, The Post has learned.

Usually it takes 24 to 48 hours for the results to come back and the Yankees will wait for them before announcing the deal that keeps the captain and shortstop in pinstripes through at least the 2013 season at $17 million per.

Jeter was spotted leaving his Manhattan apartment Sunday morning and returned about four hours later.

With Yankee brass arriving at the Winter Meetings Sunday night and Monday, it’s not clear where — or if — the Yankees will have a press conference to re-introduce Jeter to the Yankees’ universe.

The Yankees are also waiting on the results of Mariano Rivera’s physical after he agreed to a two-year deal for close to $30 million.

Like Jeter’s deal, Rivera’s includes deferred money.

With Jeter and Rivera in the fold, the Yankees’ attention at the Winter Meetings, which officially open Monday, will turn to Cliff Lee.

The 32-year-old lefty is the jewel of a very shallow free agent pitching pool.

The Yankees are the favorites to land Lee, who is seeking a six- or seven-year deal in the $140 million range. The Rangers, who Lee hurled to the World Series last year, are hopeful to retain Lee but aren’t expected to go that high in dollars.

The Yankees have talked to the agents for outfielder Carl Crawford. However, their interest in the 29-year-old left fielder is in case Lee doesn’t land in The Bronx and to drive up the price on the Red Sox who are interested.

The Rangers, Angels and Tigers have also expressed interest in Crawford, who is easily the best talent in the free agent player pool.
