Madoff victims’ trustee files new suits

He’s not done yet.

The trustee charged with trying to get back billions in funds for the victims of Bernie Madoff’s historic $65 billion Ponzi scheme has filed two more civil suits in Manhattan bankruptcy court just hours ahead of a midnight deadline to file “clawback” complaints.

Irving Picard’s office claims real estate developer Jonathan H. Simon, who founded Simon Development Group, allegedly got more than $1.6 million in “ill-gotten gains” from Madoff, while a company called Belfer Two is accused of getting more than $1.9 million.

Picard has filed a flurry of lawsuits in the last few weeks, including one accusing Austrian banker Sonja Kohn and her financial institution, Bank Medici AG, for nearly $60 billion. Kohn is accused of helping to funnel victims in Europe toward Madoff’s investment firm.
