Jets’ Woody could miss rest of regular season: report

Things just keep getting better for the Jets.

ESPN.com reports that OT Damien Woody will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week and is likely out for the rest of the regular season. Woody could be back for the playoffs, but that is not a certainty.

Woody, who had an MRI exam on Monday, sprained his MCL in the Nov. 21 win over the Texans. Woody aggravated the injury in the first quarter of the loss to the Dolphins and did not return .Wayne Hunter replaced Woody and struggled against Dolphins pass-rusher Cameron Wake.

The Jets confirmed that Woody would not play against the Steelers on Sunday, and Rex Ryan said he is “not sure” if he will be available against the Bears the following week.

Ryan also said S Eric Smith is “probably doubtful” for the game against Pittsburgh.
