‘HSM’ stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens split: report

“High School Musical” power couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have parted ways after four years of dating, E! News reported Monday.

Efron, who played the lead role of Troy Bolton in the Disney franchise, first met Hudgens, who played his sweetheart Gabriella Montez, when they were cast in the first TV film in 2005.

They went on to star together in the TV film sequel “High School Musical 2” and also appeared together in the feature film “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”

“It’s nothing dramatic,” a source told the entertainment news website of the couple’s split. “There’s no third party involved.”

“They were together for so long. It just ran its course,” another source said.

Since his “HSM” success Efron, 23, has starred in “Hairspray”, “17 Again,” and “Charlie St. Cloud.” He is currently filming “The Lucky One” in New Orleans.

Hudgens, 21, famously fell from Disney’s family-friendly grace when nude photographs she took of herself were released on the internet without her permission in 2007.

Hudgens has released two studio albums and is currently filming “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” in Hawaii.
