Alex has a heart attack

Alex Trebek, the long-running host of TV’s “Jeopardy!,” was hospitalized over the weekend after suffering a mild heart attack.

Trebek, 71, was in good spirits and undergoing tests yesterday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to Sony Television, which produces the award-winning show.

The trivia-challenge host is expected to recover in time to begin filming the 29th season of “Jeopardy!,” which starts in July.

Trebek, who suffered a heart attack in 2007, has hinted that he might ditch the Daily Double when his contract ends in two years.

“Yes, I have been thinking of retiring,” Trebek told Fox News’ Chris Wallace last month.

“But I’m torn, because I enjoy doing the show so much. A lot of people have been telling me, ‘Alex, you’ve got to go for at least 30. You’ve just done 28. Now at least do two more.’ So that has a nice ring to it. Put in your 30. And go help people.”
