Subway explains shortness of their ‘Footlong’ sandwiches: It’s just the name of the sub

This excuse falls a little short.

Subway bosses yesterday tried to explain away its “Footlong” subs coming in at just 11 inches by claiming the name is merely a description — and not a measurement.

“With regards to the size of the bread and calling it a footlong, “SUBWAY FOOTLONG” is a registered trademark as a descriptive name for the sub sold in Subway Restaurants and not intended to be a measurement of length,” the chain posted on its Australian Facebook page in response to a customer’s complaint.

Australian teen Matt Corby exposed the sandwich scandal this week — and The Post made similar measurements in New York.

Subway said the length of the bread can’t be guaranteed “each and every time.”
