White House goes on lock down after unauthorized car sneaks past security

The White House went on high alert this afternoon as an unauthorized car somehow made its way up to the White House front entrance causing a massive lock down of the complex. The Secret Service detained the driver and said that there was no threat to President Obama.

ABC News reports that the Secret Service closed the gates and cleared the North Lawn of the executive mansion. The unauthorized Honda Civic had a Treasury Department pass but was not authorized to cross the security perimeter and park near the White House entrance.

ABC also reports that the Secret Service re-opened the North Lawn and the northwest gate at about 5:40 p.m., though parts of Pennsylvania Avenue remained closed.
