Lance ‘criminal’ probe

There is still an ongoing criminal probe into fallen former cycling champ Lance Armstong, a report says.

Although US Attorney Andre Birotte closed his case against the disgraced doper, it doesn’t mean he’s off the hook, federal investigators told ABC News yesterday.

“Birotte does not speak for the federal government as a whole,” a source told ABC.

Birotte said yesterday his office is not pursing a case against Armstrong after closing it a year ago.

But despite Birotte’s move, Armstrong — already stripped of his seven Tour de France championships — is being investigated for obstruction, witness tampering and intimidation in connection to steroid use, according to ABC.

Birotte spent nearly two years investigating charges of drug distribution, fraud and conspiracy against Armstong.
